Cost Centers is a simple background table that can hold cost centers, or accounting codes, for your company. It is optional, and records can be imported into it to be used by service requests and other parts of the system. It has been set up with some demo data that can be deleted and replaced with your own data.

Cost Centers are linked to a specific department and can be shown within the department record.

They may be marked as Inactive if they become obsolete. Records that were linked to an inactive cost center will continue to be linked to it, but the inactive cost centers will not be available for selection for new records.

The Service Request table makes use of cost centers for services that are billable, if the cost function is turned on. See the General ITIL Overview for more on the ITIL Functions table.
